The Bangladesh Embassy in Paris has announced special passport services to address the complications faced by expatriates awaiting residency status through French prefectures.
Khandker M Talha, Bangladesh's permanent
representative to UNESCO and ambassador to France and Monaco, made the
announcement during a consultative meeting held at the embassy on Thursday.
The event was attended by representatives of the
expatriate community’s political and social leaders, as well as members of the
media.
During the meeting, Talha reaffirmed the embassy's
commitment to streamlining consular services in line with the Bangladesh
government's expatriate-friendly policies. He specifically addressed the
misconceptions and misinformation circulating on social media regarding the
online appointment system introduced on 3 June.
Stressing that the system is designed to ensure a
more transparent and accessible process for service seekers, the ambassador
urged expatriates to remain vigilant against misinformation and play a
proactive role in upholding the country's image.
Following feedback from the attendees, the
ambassador unveiled several specific initiatives to improve service delivery.
The embassy will provide passport-related services without prior appointments
on three upcoming Saturdays: 25 July, 8 August, and 22 August.
Additionally, new slots for online appointments will
be released from 16 July through 31 August. Under the new allocation, half of
the daily capacity will be reserved for online appointments, while the
remaining half will be dedicated to those who had submitted applications via
email before 15 May.
The expatriates present at the meeting welcomed
these measures, expressing optimism that these steps would significantly reduce
the bureaucratic hurdles faced by the diaspora and bolster public confidence in
the embassy's services.
The meeting was also attended by senior embassy
officials, including Defence Attaché Brig Gen Mohammad Khairuzzaman Molla,
Minister (Commercial) Mizanur Rahman, Head of Chancery Walid Bin Kashem, First
Secretary Sheikh Marefat Tarikul Islam, and Second Secretary KFM Sharhad
Shakil.
