The governments of Bangladesh and the United Kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding on disaster risk management and humanitarian response on Tuesday, reaffirming both countries’ shared commitments to protecting lives and supporting communities vulnerable to natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
The agreement strengthens cooperation on disaster
preparedness, emergency response, forecasting, early warning systems, and technical
expertise, the British High Commission said in a social media post.
It also provides a framework for potential UK
support during disasters, including search and rescue capabilities, emergency
medical teams, logistics expertise, and humanitarian specialists.
As Bangladesh continues to face a range of natural
hazards and disaster risks, the UK and Bangladesh will continue working
together to build resilience, reduce disaster risks, and ensure support reaches
those who need it most.
