Dinesh Trivedi, the likely new High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, has expressed hope that the existing friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries will be further strengthened in the coming days.

Trivedi made the remarks during a phone conversation with BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan, also advisory Editor of Dainik Somoyer Alo, on Monday.

During the call, he also conveyed his sincere greetings to the people of Bangladesh.

However, he said no specific date has yet been finalised for his formal arrival in Dhaka to assume his responsibilities.

India has appointed veteran politician and former union minister Dinesh Trivedi as its new high commissioner to Bangladesh, in a significant diplomatic reshuffle aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

Trivedi will replace current envoy Pranay Verma.

Known for his fluency in Bengali despite his Gujarati business family background, Trivedi’s linguistic ability is expected to play a key role in enhancing diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
