Ambassador of Bangladesh to Mexico M. Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey on Friday hosted a farewell iftar and dinner for fellow diplomats and colleagues of the Bangladesh Mission in Mexico City ahead of his return to Dhaka.
The event was attended by ambassadors from Côte d’Ivoire, India, Pakistan, Türkiye and Indonesia, as well as diplomatic representatives from Iraq, Azerbaijan and several other countries.
Speaking at the gathering, Ambassador Ansarey thanked members of the diplomatic community for their friendship, cooperation and support during his tenure in Mexico. He said the spirit of collaboration among diplomats had helped strengthen both bilateral and multilateral engagement.
Reflecting on recent developments in Bangladesh, the envoy said the country has entered a renewed democratic phase following what he described as the end of more than a decade of autocratic rule. He noted that Bangladesh had recently held a free, fair and credible election and that the newly elected Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, has begun a new democratic journey for the nation. He added that the first session of the newly elected parliament has already been held, marking what he termed a hopeful beginning for the country’s democratic future.\
Ansarey also expressed gratitude to the government and people of Mexico, as well as the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their cooperation and support during his diplomatic tenure.
The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire, Robert Ly, also addressed the gathering, praising Ansarey’s diplomatic leadership and his cordial engagement with members of the diplomatic community in Mexico.
Guests at the event were served a variety of traditional Bangladeshi iftar items along with local dishes.
