The government of Bangladesh has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two Bangladeshi nationals and injuries to several others following an aerial attack in the Al-Kharj Governorate of Saudi Arabia.
In a press release issued on Monday by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, the government said the continued loss of innocent
Bangladeshi civilian lives in the region is a matter of grave concern.
The victims were identified as Bacchu Miah from
Katiadi in Kishoreganj and Mosharraf Hossain from Shakhipur in Tangail.
According to the statement, the injured Bangladeshis
are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals. Officials from the
Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh have visited the injured and are maintaining
close contact with Saudi authorities regarding the repatriation of the victims’
bodies.
The government strongly condemned attacks that
result in the loss of innocent lives and urged all parties concerned to
exercise maximum restraint.
It also called on the international community to
take urgent and effective steps to de-escalate the situation and prevent
further loss of life.
The government reiterated that it places the highest
priority on the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi nationals living in the
Middle East and said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
