‘No Anarchy to be Allowed’Hasina flays Khaleda for siding with war criminals→ Staff Correspondent
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wednesday hit out at her political archrival once again as she said the government would never allow anyone to create anarchy in the country with a motive to protect the war criminals.

“We won’t allow anyone to play with the fate of the people by creating chaotic situation to protect the war criminals,” she told a discussion meeting organised by the ruling Awami League at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city marking the International Mother Language Day.

“Despite conspiracies by the main opposition party, the trial of war criminals will be completed,” she said and strongly criticised the opposition chief for “siding with the war criminals”.

“Being a woman how Khaleda Zia takes sides of the war criminals,” she posed a question, saying that the BNP chief took recourse to “the politics of corpses” to save the war criminals.

Pointing her finger at BNP, the premier urged the countrymen to remain alert so that the parties with image of traitor, terrorist and corrupt could not assume office in future to plunder public exchequer and resort to repression on the people.

She thanked her archrival for acknowledgement that she (Khaleda) won’t do “politics of vendetta” in the future. “It means that she (Khaleda) used to do politics of vengeance,” the PM said.

Calling on the countrymen not to go by the words of Khaleda Zia, the AL president said there was no match between her word and work.

About the provision of caretaker government, Hasina said the opposition chief once spoke against caretaker government. She claimed free and fair elections were held during the tenure of the AL-led alliance government.

“At least 5,500 elections were held over the last three years, but no one could raise complaints about irregularities or government interference,” she said, alleging that the BNP chairperson couldn’t tolerate it as the AL-led government has ensured people’s voting right.

Chaired by Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, the meeting was also addressed by AL advisory council member and Railways Minister Suranjit Sengupta, presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Home Minister Sahara Khatun, AL joint secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam.
