PM, Axiata Group CEO discuss telecom investment, 5G rollout

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday met Nik Rizal Kamil, group chief executive officer and managing director of Axiata Group Berhad, to discuss investment in Bangladesh's telecommunications sector and the country's digital transformation. 

The meeting was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur at 2:50pm local time, the Prime Minister's Press Wing said in a statement.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed expanding investment in Bangladesh's telecommunications sector, strengthening digital infrastructure and accelerating the rollout of fifth-generation (5G) mobile network services across the country.

Axiata Group also welcomed Bangladesh's investment-friendly budget and thanked the prime minister for introducing measures aimed at encouraging greater investment.

Robi Axiata PLC, one of Bangladesh's leading mobile network operators, is the local operating company of Axiata Group Berhad.
