An international exhibition showcasing security, occupational safety, fire safety and cybersecurity technologies opened in Dhaka on Thursday, bringing together around 150 brands from 10 countries and more than 500 industry professionals.
The three-day “International Security Expo and Occupational Safety, Health & Fire Expo-2026” was inaugurated at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.
The exhibition, being held for the second time, will continue until Saturday.
Technology products and services provider i-Station Limited and the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), a trade organisation representing information technology businesses, are jointly organising the event.
The exhibition brings together local manufacturers, suppliers and importers of security and safety products, entrepreneurs from the software and cybersecurity sectors, and representatives of international technology companies.
It features smart surveillance and monitoring systems, access-control technologies, cybersecurity solutions, fire safety technologies, workplace safety equipment and various software-based security solutions.
Speaking at the inauguration, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Fazlur Rahman said such international events could help strengthen the country’s security systems while raising awareness of security technologies and creating opportunities for networking and public-private partnerships.
He also called on foreign security and safety technology companies to invest in Bangladesh’s hi-tech parks.
BCS Secretary General Muhammad Monirul Islam said security, workplace safety and emergency preparedness must be strengthened alongside the country’s rapid digitalisation and industrialisation.
“Security is no longer limited to protecting buildings or physical assets. It also includes the protection of information, digital systems, businesses and critical infrastructure,” he said.
Madhu Sudan Saha, managing director of i-Station Limited, said the latest technologies and products in security management were being showcased at the exhibition.
As the use of smart and connected technologies expands, demand for modern security solutions is also increasing across institutions and industries, he said. Saha said the exhibition would allow businesses to learn about emerging technologies and explore ways to make their security systems more effective.
BCS Vice President and exhibition chairman Wahidul Hasan Dipu said investment in fire safety, emergency preparedness and modern security technologies should not be viewed merely as an expense, but as an investment in people, business continuity and sustainable growth.
He, however, identified a shortage of skilled workers, lack of awareness, uneven implementation of international standards and the high cost of technology as major challenges facing the sector.
Two seminars are also being held on security, workplace safety, technology use and the future of the industrial sector.
The sessions will provide opportunities for technology experts and professionals to share knowledge and experience and explore business collaboration.
According to the organisers, the exhibition has brought together manufacturers, technology suppliers, distributors, representatives of industrial establishments, safety professionals, businesses, decision-makers and policymakers.
They expect the event to facilitate business networking and create new investment and partnership opportunities in Bangladesh’s security and safety technology sector. Entry to the exhibition is free, but visitors are required to register online.
