Over 70 children brought the scenic landscapes, harvest fields, and seasonal hues of late autumn to life through an art competition held at Dhirendranath Datta Bhasha Chattar in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
The
competition, themed "Nature in Hemanta", was organised by the
Brahmanbaria district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho in association with
cultural troupe Brahmanbaria Shishu Natyam.
Bashundhara
Shuvosangho Brahmanbaria
District Unit Adviser Biswajit Pal Babu coordinated the programme, while Niaz
Mohammad Khan Bitu, founder and general secretary of Brahmanbaria Shishu
Natyam, addressed the gathering as the chief guest. Visual artists Anik Pal,
Pronoy Saha, Mili Datta, and Jui Mallik served on the judging panel.
Using watercolours and crayons, the young participants illustrated the rural landscape of Bengal during Hemanta, depicting dew-drenched grasslands, fog-covered mornings, and farmers gathering ripe golden paddy. Participants began arriving at the venue alongside their parents from 2:30pm ahead of the official 3:00pm commencement.
Speaking
prior to the competition, chief guest Niaz Mohammad Khan Bitu highlighted the
ecological richness of the late autumn season and urged organisers to host a
follow-up competition centered on winter. Parents attending the event noted
that practical outdoor platforms enable children to observe nature directly,
encouraging artistic expression and imaginative thinking beyond textbooks.
Following
the competition, a total of 12 winners received awards across four distinct
categories. In the ‘Kathbirali’ group, Ahnaf Adib secured first place, while
Ayatun Noor Inaya and Oritro Debnath finished second and third, respectively.
