Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a daylong programme with elderly residents at Nizam-Hasina Old Age Home in Bhola on Thursday, creating moments of joy and companionship for the residents.
The programme included spending time with the
elderly, exchanging greetings, listening to their stories and sharing memories.
Many residents have limited contact with
their families and loved ones. For them, the presence of members of Bashundhara
Shuvosangho brought a sense of companionship and warmth.
Members sat beside the elderly residents,
held their hands and listened attentively to stories of their lives. The
residents also shared memories of their past and responded to questions from
the younger participants.
Resident Md Faruk said companionship was what
they needed most.
“Having them spend time with us and talk to us is a great source of joy,” he said.

Shafayat Hossain, president of Bashundhara
Shuvosangho Bhola district unit, said the programme was not merely an event but
a small expression of responsibility, love and humanity.
“Those living in old age homes need more than
food, clothing or essential items. They need someone to talk to, attention and
moments when they can feel that they are not alone and that society has not
forgotten them,” he said.
He said even a little time, sincerity and a
smile could make someone’s day happier.
The elderly residents and Shuvosangho members
also posed for photographs together, creating memorable moments that brought
people of different generations together.
