Police recovered body of a youth from lift-shaft of a multi-storey building in the city’s Pathantuli area on Saturday, two days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Mahmud Khan Mashfiq, 35, a resident of the building.

Sources said Mashfiq remained missing since Thursday night. His family members searched for him in different places, but failed to trace his whereabouts.

On Saturday afternoon, residents spotted a body lying inside the lift-shaft and informed police of the matter.

Locals said door of the lift was partially damaged and it also remained out of service for the past two days due to a mechanical fault.
