The government has reduced airfare for Hajj flights by Tk12,000 per ticket, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said.
The information was disclosed in a press
release sent to the media on Sunday.
According to the release, a total of 78,500 pilgrims will be transported this year without operating any chartered flights. The airfare reduction will apply to all Hajj flights.
Earlier, after a meeting of the National Hajj
Management Committee at the Secretariat, Religious Affairs Minister Mofazzal
Houssain Kaikobad said Hajj flights for 2026 are scheduled to begin on 18 April.
He added that the Prime Minister Tarique
Rahman is expected to inaugurate the Hajj flight operations and may visit the
Hajj Camp within the next couple of days.
Despite ongoing instability in the Middle
East, the minister expressed hope that there would be no major disruption to
the flight schedule.
“All relevant agencies have been instructed
to work in coordination to ensure smooth travel of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia,”
he said.
