Keep CCTV cameras on during exams or face action: Edn Minister

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has directed that CCTV cameras must remain operational in all examination halls during the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations. 

He warned that strict action will be taken if cameras are turned off under any pretext.

He made these remarks on Saturday at a meeting with center secretaries of the Rajshahi Education Board and the Madrasa Education Board in the Rajshahi region, ahead of the SSC and equivalent examinations-2026, which began at 11:00am.

The minister stated that all examination centers will be monitored through CCTV cameras. Institutions that do not yet have CCTV facilities must procure them quickly, adding that the government will provide funding if necessary.

Ehsanul Haque Milon also emphasized accountability, saying that regardless of who is responsible for any irregularities at exam centers, the center secretary will be held accountable.

Criticizing corrupt practices among some teachers, he said that many are more interested in earning money through board-related activities than focusing on classroom teaching. He stressed that such attitudes must change, otherwise strict measures will be taken.

The minister also warned that strong action will be taken against institutions where not a single student passes. Additionally, he noted that institutions with only a handful of examinees may not be allowed to continue operating.
