President Mohammad Shahabuddin on Thursday said the then Awami League government had turned Bangladesh into a champion of corruption.
He made the remarks
while delivering his speech at the maiden session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on
Thursday afternoon.
The President said
the government has introduced the Family Card programme, describing it as a
symbol of women’s empowerment. He also highlighted different initiatives being
implemented by the government.
Referring to the
July mass uprising, Shahabuddin said the fall of the “fascist government” came
through a people’s movement. He also mentioned the interim government’s
activities taken in memory of the July uprising and the martyrs.
The President also
spoke about the war situation in the Middle East and discussed the country’s
economic condition, including inflation and foreign exchange reserves.
He expressed hope
