Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued urgent directives concerning the safety and overall condition of Bangladeshi expatriates in the Middle East amid the ongoing war situation involving Iran and heightened regional tensions.
On Sunday morning, the prime minister held a meeting
at the Secretariat with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
other relevant departments, where he provided necessary instructions to ensure
the security of Bangladeshi nationals abroad.
Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said
that Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir
met the prime minister earlier in the morning.
The meeting discussed in detail the current
condition of Bangladeshis residing in the Middle East and the measures required
to ensure their safety in the evolving situation.
Meanwhile, the cancellation of international flights
due to rising tensions in the Middle East has caused significant hardship for
passengers.
The prime minister is closely monitoring the overall
management of passengers stranded at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
According to the additional press secretary, under
the prime minister’s directive, the civil aviation minister and state minister
are working directly on the issue.
The state minister for civil aviation has been
present at the airport since morning, overseeing facilities and assistance for
passengers, while the expatriates’ welfare minister is also actively involved
in the process.
