President calls first session of Parliament on 12 March

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has announced that the first session of the 13th Parliament will be held on 12 March, according to a press release issued by the Parliament Secretariat on Monday.

The president has called the session in line with Section 72(1) of the Constitution, said the release signed by Md Emdadul Haque, director of public relations at the Parliament Secretariat.

The session will begin at 11am on the day, the press release added.

Under the current legal provisions, the elected lawmakers are required to elect the speaker and deputy speaker of the parliament of the first day of the session. Following the election, the formal activities of the parliament would begin under the supervision of the new speaker.
