A joint investigation team sealed four warehouses of “Toss Bond Private Limited” in Gulshan, Dhaka, for allegedly stockpiling duty-free liquor in unauthorised secret godowns.
The company's owner, Sheikh Nur Islam, is the father-in-law of content creator Salman Muqtadir.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and Special Response Battalion-1 (SRB-1) jointly conducted the drive from 10:30pm on Thursday to 4:30am on Friday, according to the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The NBR said serious irregularities were detected in the operations of the diplomatic warehouse. The company had only two registered and approved warehouses, but the team found goods stored in four.
All four warehouses were sealed immediately to prevent illegal removal or open-market sale of duty-free goods imported under bond facilities, and to ensure a fair investigation, the NBR said.

Canadian businesses, assets found
Meanwhile, the NBR's Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) and Income Tax Intelligence and Investigation Unit have gathered extensive information on Sheikh Nur Islam's family businesses, assets and financial transactions in Canada.
Analysing nearly a decade of financial activity, the agencies found multiple companies, bank accounts and transactions of the family in Canada.
According to intelligence documents, 163 reports on the financial activities of Sheikh Nur Islam and his family between April 26, 2012 and April 19, 2022 were reviewed. These include 17 suspicious transactions, two attempted suspicious transactions, 118 large cash transaction reports, 26 electronic fund transfer records and two international transaction reports.
The documents name Sheikh Nur Islam, his wife Sheila Islam and daughters Disha Islam and Tasnim Islam, and mention their Canadian citizenship and links to several businesses.
Family members are directors of Sheikh Nur Management Incorporated. Sheikh Nur Islam is also listed as director and president of 1771069 Ontario Incorporated.
His professions include real estate management and ownership of a Zoom Zoom Pizza business, while Sheila Islam is linked to the operation and management of a Domino's Pizza business. Disha Islam, wife of Salman Muqtadir, reportedly worked as an investment adviser and segregated fund analyst at Sun Life in Canada. She is also mentioned as a York University student.
The family's combined financial transactions stand at about CAD 50.89 lakh, the report said. It also contains transactions in British pounds, Singapore dollars, Thai baht and US dollars. The family holds several personal, joint and company bank accounts in Canada, along with a mortgage account in Sheila Islam's name.

Tax file shows no mention
Sheikh Nur Islam's total assets stood at around Tk 14 crore in the 2023-24 tax year, according to Bangladesh's tax records. The figure rose to around Tk 104 crore in the following year, of which about Tk 95 crore was shown as remittance.
His tax file lists involvement in several businesses, including Barsha Money Changing Centre, Barsha Dairy Farm and Barsha Fisheries, as well as Domino's Pizza, Fuwang Bowling, Eastern Hotel and Bar, Radio Masala, Spice Television, Starbucks Cafe and Tim Hortons.
However, the documents say the names of Sheikh Nur Management, 1771069 Ontario Incorporated and the Dhaka warehouse Toss Bond do not appear in his Bangladeshi tax records. His Canadian citizenship is also not mentioned there.
