Sri Lankan High Commissioner calls on UGC chairman

A two-member Sri Lankan delegation led by Crisanthe De Silva, High Commissioner of Sri Lankan in Dhaka, called on University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan at UGC office on Monday.

The delegation discussed about the matters related to collecting additional fees for internship programme from the Sri Lankan medical students who graduated from the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC).

Prof Mannan assured the Sri Lankan High Commissioner of resolving the problems immediately and asked USTC authority to provide the original certificates to the Sri Lankan students by 20 September, this year.

Crisanthe De Silva said the medical education imparted by Bangladeshi educational institutions is in high esteem in Sri Lanka.

Prof Mohammad Ismail Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Medical University, Prof Probhat Chandra Barua, VC of USTC, representatives from the Ministry of Health, Education and Foreign Affairs, BMDC, and high officials from UGC were present in the meeting.
