Haldaa to hit local cinemas on Dec 1

Popular actor- director Tauquir Ahmed’s latest film Haldaa is going to hit the local cinemas on December 1.


Later it will be released in 17 other countries on 16 December. This is the fifth film with him on helm.


Director Tauquir was disclosed the releasing date in a joined Facebook Live with his ‘Haldaa’ team.  He was accompanied by actor Zahid Hassan, actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Runa Khan, distributor Jabir Hossain Abhi, singer Pintu Ghosh among others.


The film ‘Haldaa’ revolves around the fishermen of the Halda River.


The film casts Zahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim, Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Fazlul Rahman Babu, Shahed Ali, Dilara Jaman and others.


Azad Bulbul has written the story of the film.  Haldaa will be the fifth film directed by Tauquir Ahmed.

His earlier directorial ventures Joyjatra, Rupkothar Golpo, Daruchini Dwip, and Oggyatonama all won audience’s acclaim.


His last film Oggatonama, released last year, won seven awards in international film festivals.


Audience have complained since his first film venture that his films do not reach a wider audience due to lack of proper publicity. However, the director informed that with ‘Halda’, he is quite conscious.


The actor-turned-director said that he wanted to be on a journey with ‘Haldaa’ with the audience. Addressing the viewers he said, “We try to create a piece of art to show you, for your entertainment or even your criticisms. If my film has flaws, criticise it all you want. Point out those mistakes to us. But please be with this project, watch it.”


No artiste can go ahead without the support of his fans, he added.


Actor Zahid Hasan said, “We work a lot while making a film, but sometimes the result is not satisfactory.” The film has been produced by ‘Amra Kojon’ and the screenplay was done by none other than the multifaceted director himself, Tauquir Ahmed.


Tauquir Ahmed, an architect and actor, turned director in both television and cinema. He has made four feature films. Present occupation is film making, screen writing and acting.


After SSC and HSC he studied architecture in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He completed film diploma from New York Film Academy, 2002. He had training in Theatre Direction from Royal Court Theatre, London (British Council Scholarship, 1995) and Acting (Stage) from ITI training, University of Theatre of Nations, 1989.


Toukir Ahmed started his career as a lead-actor in romantic role in early 1980s. Many of his dramas broadcast on BTV at that time.


Tauquir Ahmed Married Bipasha Hayat, another fellow actor, on 23 July 1999.  Together they have one son - Arib and one daughter - Arisha.
