Huge explosives recovered from Mirpur militant den

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered huge quantity of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while searching a suspected hideout of militants at Mirpur Mazar Road on Thursday, reports UNB.

Briefing reporters near the militants’ den on Thursday, Rab’s media director Mofti Mahmood Khan said its bomb disposal unit has been conducting search inside the militant’s den since the morning.

“We’ve recovered several cartons, containing huge quantity of IEDs, some electronics devices and sharp weapons from inside the 6-storey building. It needs more time to complete the operation,” he said.

Abdullah Al Mehedi, deputy director (Media) of Rab headquarters, told UNB that bomb disposal unit of Rab started searching the militant hideout around 9:15 am.

Meanwhile, an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the recovery of skulls of seven people from the suspected militant hideout.

Police said Nayek Subedar Harunur Rashid, a deputy Assistant director of Rab-4, filed the case with Darus Salam Police Station on Wednesday night.

Besides, the elite force also arrested the owner of the 6-storey building Habibullah Bahar Azad and security guard Serajul Islam at night in connection with the incident, said Abdullah Al Mehedi, deputy director (Media) of Rab Headquarters.

Earlier the elite force recovered the skulls of seven people, including two women and two children, from the militant hideout
on Wednesday.
