Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has suggested formation of a national committee with coordination of information ministry, post and telecommunications ministry and the ICT division for efficient management of the internet in the country.
Inu, also chairperson of the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF), placed the suggestion at a view exchange meeting at Bangladesh Press Institute in Dhaka on Monday last.
The view exchange was arranged as the preparation of participation in the ‘Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APRIGF) 2017’ to be held in Bangkok from July 26 to 29.
Hasanul Haq Inu emphasized on taking training program to create cyber law experts and the cyber police in a bid to keep the Internet safe.
BIGF Secretary General Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu said the national supervision committee for internet is essential now as the number of internet users in Banglash has been increasing in recent years.
Chief executive of the Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) ANM Bazlur Rahman moderated the meeting, while, president of the Bangladesh Computer Society Prof Dr M Mahfuzul Islam, Syed Almas Kabir of the Metro-net Limited and member of the Internet Society Md Jahangir Hossain also spoke it, among others.
