UIU team becomes champion in Energy Hackathon, 2017

United International University “Clean Energy” team became Champion in Energy Hackathon, 2017arranged by Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. The theme of thiscategory was “Remove biomass cook stove with clean innovations” .The prize was awarded for innovation of high efficiency Improved cook stove with fuel control by a small (less than 1W)electric fan.

The prize money was 50,000 taka cash and a Government incubation support. The prize was handed over by State Minister Power, Energy and Mineral resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid, MP. The team consists of Md. Raihan Uddin, Sehmim Islam, Sandip Kumar and Rezwanul Karim with Md. Arifur Rahman Talukder as the team leader.


EPSRC and DFID (UK) funded the project and the cook stove was jointly developed by United International University (UIU), University of Sussex, Gamos Ltd , (UK), ACTS, Kenya, LIGTT, USA.
