MAGURA: A man was killed in a clash over land related dispute in Char Chowka village of Sreepur upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Babul Sheikh, 45, son of Abdul Kader Sheikh, a resident of the village.
Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Police Station, Moniruzzaman, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Babul and his paternal cousin Abdur Rahim over a piece of land.
As a sequel to the dispute, they locked into an altercation around 9.00 am on Monday. At one stage, Rahim hit Babul with a sharp weapon which left him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body.
However, Rahim went into hiding after the incident. A case was filed in this connection. — UNB
