13 schools come under midday meal programme

GAIBANDHA:  A total of 13 government primary schools of Sundarganj upazila in the district have been brought under Midday Meal Programme to check the dropout of the children.
Acting UNO of Sundarganj upazila Habibul Alam disclosed this on Monday at the district development coordination committee meeting held at the conference room of district Collectorate building with Deputy Commissioner M. Abdus Samad in the chair.
Office sources said Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Abul Kalam Azad in a letter asked the district administration to introduce midday meal programme in the primary schools located at rural areas of the district to ensure 100 percent enrolment and check the dropout rate of the students.
In the letter he also said introduction of the midday meal programme is the desire of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and in this context, he sought whole hearted cooperation of all the well-off section and solvent people of the society.

Abdus Samad is communicating with the leaders of different professional groups, well-off section, and solvent persons of the society and requesting them for financial help.
The DC is also holding meetings at his office in a bid to turn the programme into reality, said additional Deputy Commissioner (General) M. Shamsul Azam.     — BSS
