Yesterday was the 17th death anniversary of popular Dhallywood hero Manna. Once upon a time, Manna’s films on the big screen meant a packed audience and successful business. After Manna’s demise, the country’s film industry could no longer stand tall. In other words, his lack has not been filled in that way.
Manna’s emptiness is still evident in Dhaka cinema. The directors frankly admit that many films can be made on the biography of this late hero. His wife Shelly Manna has also a planned to make a film on Manna’s life story. Talking to the media, she said that the work on the film will begin after the ongoing case regarding the mystery of the hero’s death is over.
Shelly Manna said, “I have been planning to make a film on Manna’s life for a long time. A rough script has already been prepared. But we are waiting for the court verdict. Since a case has been filed in his death, we are waiting to know the final hearing. Once the final outcome is known, the script will be completed and we will be able to make a complete movie.”
Like every year, Manna’s family and fans observed the death anniversary of the hero. Shelly Manna said, “Death anniversary is a painful. There is no point in celebrating here. Like every year, we have arranged a number of programmes as a family. Besides, his fans all over the country also held doa mahfils.”
Manna made his debut on the big screen with the film “Tawba”. He came into limelight after his fabulous performance in the films “Danga” and “Traas” directed by Kazi Hayat.
The films “Andho Prem”, “Prem Dewana”, “Disco Dancer” and “Deshdrohi” made him very popular in the film industry. In 1999, Manna gave the audience super-duper hit films like “Ke Amar Baba”,“Amma Jaan”, and “Lal Badsha”. He created a unique style in acting, action, and dialogue delivery.
The noted actor breathed his last on 17 February 2008 following a heart attack.
